This recipe instantly became a family favorite. We're having a Ice cream social in April and I'm going to make this recipe. It is THAT good. BBQ is a favorite of mine and I am delighted with how great this recipe went on top of those hot dogs. Plus, the left overs we had we used the next day on top of baked potatoes. And it was just as good!

Saucy Hot Dogs

Ingredients You'll Need:
- 5 slices bacon
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 Tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 bottle Heinz chili sauce
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 hot dog buns
- Mild cheese, shredded
Directions:
- In a large skillet, fry the bacon over medium heat until the bacon is crisp. Drain the bacon on a paper towel, leaving the drippings in the pan. Once it is cool, crumble it. Don't do it when it's hot. You'll scald your fingerprints off I swear, (not that I did that...ouch)
- Add the onions and garlic to the drippings and saute until the onions are tender( about 10 minutes).
- Add the chili sauce, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, crumbled bacon, and apple juice and bring to a boil.
- Add the hot dogs and cook for 5-10 minutes until the sauce is thickened and the hot dogs are hot.
- Either serve immediately or transfer to a slow cooker set to the low setting. Serve with shredded cheese.
At the Ice cream social we're throwing in April, this is going to be a 'featured' hot dog! I can't wait to share this with the rest of the family!
